Dr. Ross's Expert Review
G.I. Detox+ from Biocidin Botanicals is my favorite broad-spectrum binder. It blends zeolite clay, activated charcoal, silica, apple pectin, humic powder, and aloe vera in one capsule. Different binders have different affinities, so a blend covers more ground than any single ingredient.
Why a blend matters
Charcoal alone is a workhorse but not selective. Zeolite and humic substances bring their own binding profiles, and aloe and pectin support gut comfort along the way. The manufacturer positions it as the clearance half of a regimen that pairs with their Biocidin products. In my practice, I use it as a binder for detox support alongside other products chosen with your physician.
The practical rules
Binders are not picky. The same binding action that captures unwanted metabolites and chemicals also grabs medications and other supplements. So timing is everything. To prevent binding medications or supplements I suggest stopping all meds or supplements 30 min before taking this product and then resuming medicines or supplements 2 hours later. An ideal time to eat a small amount of food is 30 min after taking this to stimulate gall bladder contraction when the binder reaches the small intestines. People who ignore the spacing undo the benefits of their other supplements or medications.
One thing to be straight about. Binding is well established in medicine for acute poisoning. The evidence for low-dose daily binders in chronic illness regimens is thinner, mostly theory, lab work on binding capacity, and clinical observation.
When a binder is called for I like this product. Keep it a full hour away from your other pills, and work with your physician for how long to stay on it.
How I Use It in My Practice
I use G.I. Detox+ as the broad spectrum binder in ongoing cleanse and mold toxin regimens. I start at one capsule a day, depending on the response I may suggest 2 pills 1 time a day.
The Research, in Dr. Ross's Words
There is no published trial of this six-ingredient blend as a whole, so the science here is ingredient by ingredient. Activated charcoal is a mainstay of toxicology for acute poisoning. Zeolite clinoptilolite carries human safety data and a recent randomized trial in lead exposure. Lab studies of humic acids show binding of metals, and animal work supports the same. Low-dose daily binder use in chronic illness regimens rests on binding science plus clinical observation, not on trials of this product.
