Dr. Ross's Expert Review

MycoPul is a binder I reach for when mold toxins are part of the picture. A binder is a material that attaches to toxins in the gut so they leave with the stool instead of being reabsorbed. Mold toxins recirculate through the liver and gut, so binding them in the GI tract is a core strategy discussed in mold toxin education.

What makes MycoPul different is that it uses six binders in one capsule. Each mycotoxin has an affinity for different materials, so a combination covers more ground than any single binder. The MycoPlex blend includes activated charcoal, a humic and fulvic acid blend, G-PUR purified zeolite clinoptilolite, microchitosan, and silica from bamboo extract. G-PUR is purified to remove contaminants the zeolite may have picked up in soil, which leaves open binding sites for work in the GI tract.

The evidence is uneven but real. A double-blind randomized trial found purified zeolite reported lower blood lead in people with mildly elevated levels; that is research on the ingredient, not a claim about this product. A review of the medical zeolite literature supports its safety. Chitosan has been shown in laboratory gut models to adsorb aflatoxin, fumonisin, and ochratoxin. Charcoal adsorption of toxins is standard clinical knowledge.

Take one capsule once a day on an empty stomach. To prevent binding medications or supplements I suggest stopping all meds or supplements 30 min before taking this product and then resuming medicines or supplements 2 hours later. An ideal time to eat a small amount of food is 30 min after taking this to stimulate gall bladder contraction when the binder reaches the small intestines. The manufacturer recommends a multi-mineral at the opposite time of day, which is a reasonable recommendation. If you are pregnant or nursing, review it with your physician first.

How I Use It in My Practice

I use MycoPul for mold toxin concerns, where binders are part of the plan. My usual start is one capsule a day. If constipation develops, I work to fix it because a binder cannot do its job without regular bowel movements. Anyone pregnant or nursing reviews it with their physician first.

The Research, in Dr. Ross's Words

While the combination of ingredients has not been researched, based on function and limited research the ingredients in this product may bind toxins. Activated charcoal supports binding of ochratoxins and aflatoxins, the humic and fulvic blend is used for aflatoxins, microchitosan for ochratoxin and heavy metals, and zeolite for metals and ammonia.

The strongest human evidence here is the zeolite. A double-blind randomized clinical trial found oral zeolite reduced serum lead in patients with mild to moderate lead poisoning, and a 2018 critical review of clinoptilolite data in vivo supports both its safety and its binding of heavy metals in the gut. G-PUR is the purified clinoptilolite form used in this product.

Chitosan has laboratory support as a mycotoxin binder. A study using an in vitro gastrointestinal model found chitosan adsorbed aflatoxin B1, fumonisin B1, ochratoxin, and several trichothecene mycotoxins. The humic acid work is mostly animal research: rat studies of chronic lead exposure show humic acids reduce lead burden, and a review of humic compounds in lead intoxication describes the binding mechanism. Silica research points to a role in urinary aluminium excretion. Activated charcoal is a well known and researched binder for toxin removal.

The honest caveat: there are no controlled human trials of MycoPul itself, or of multi-binder combinations for mold toxins. Ingredient-level science plus clinical observation is what I go on.

MycoPul® employs multiple targeted binders to remove mycotoxins (toxins produced by mold), from the GI tract. Because each mycotoxin is unique and responds differently, MycoPul’s proprietary MycoPlex™ blend is formulated with multiple targeted ingredients shown in research to bind the most prevalent mycotoxins.
Directions of Use
As a dietary supplement, take 1 capsule once daily on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours after eating or 1 hour before eating) or as directed by your healthcare professional. It is recommended to take a multi-mineral such as Core Minerals™ at the opposite time of day while using MycoPul®.
