Editorial & Medical Review Policy

Effective date: November 10th, 2026

This page explains who writes TreatLyme content, where the information comes from, how we keep it current, and how we keep commercial interests from shaping it.

Who writes and reviews our content

TreatLyme content is written or reviewed by Dr. Marty Ross, MD, a family medicine and integrative medicine physican licensed in Washington State who has treated Lyme disease and tick-borne illness since the early 2000s. Some articles are drafted by our editorial team and published only after Dr. Ross reviews them for medical accuracy. Every article shows who wrote it, who reviewed it, and when it was last reviewed.

Where our information comes from

We base content on, in order of preference:

  1. Peer-reviewed clinical research, systematic reviews, and published guidelines.
  2. Laboratory and preclinical research, labeled as such when there is little or no human evidence.
  3. Dr. Ross’s clinical experience, labeled as clinical experience, not as proven fact.

We link to our sources where we can. When the evidence for a treatment is limited, early, or mostly from lab or animal studies, we say so in the text.

How we handle disagreement

Where our content departs from mainstream guidelines, we say so and explain why. How Lyme treatment guidelines differ is explained in our Medical Disclaimer.

How we describe supplements

We describe how a supplement may support the body’s normal structure or function, and what research exists. We do not claim that a supplement treats, cures, or prevents a disease. Product pages carry the FDA disclaimer next to any such statement.

Keeping content current

We review core articles and protocols at least every 24 months, and sooner when major research, guidelines, or regulations change. Each page shows its last reviewed date. Webinar recordings reflect what was known on the date recorded, which we show on each recording.

Corrections

If you find an error, email [email protected]. We review every report. When we correct a material error, we update the page and note the correction and date at the end of the article.

Independence and commercial interests

Dr. Ross earns revenue from purchases made through our links to Femologist. Our full list of financial connections is in our Affiliate and Material Connections Disclosure. To limit their influence:

  • Editorial content is written before, and separately from, decisions about which product links to include.
  • We mention alternatives from other brands where they exist.
  • We do not accept payment to publish, review, or rank anything, and outside advertisers and brands do not see content before publication. Dr. Ross, reviews all content as its medical reviewer.
  • Sponsored or guest content is labeled clearly at the top.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools to help with research, drafting, and editing. A human editor and Dr. Ross review every piece before it is published, and we do not publish AI-generated medical claims without checking them against sources.

Testimonials and patient stories

We publish patient stories only with written permission, remove identifying details unless the person asks otherwise, and do not edit them to change their meaning. They describe individual experiences, not typical results.

Review moderation

Product reviews shown on TreatLyme come from verified Femologist customers and are moderated before display. The criteria are published here and applied the same way to every review:

  1. Reviews are removed for content reasons only: disease claims (“cured my Lyme”), spam, off-topic content, profanity, or personal information.
  2. Reviews are never removed because they are negative, and never because they criticize Dr. Ross, TreatLyme, or a product.
  3. The same criteria apply to every review on every product page; no product gets lighter moderation.
  4. A disease-claim review is removed whole; the displayed review count reflects only reviews that pass moderation, and the product page says reviews are moderated.
